TandemDock Privacy Policy

TandemDock has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Everything it does with your windows and apps happens on your Mac and stays there.

This policy covers the TandemDock app for Mac, made by PixelBlue LLC (“we”). It explains the few things that do leave your Mac and why.

What stays on your Mac

  • Accessibility access lets TandemDock see your windows so it can move them out from under the Dock and list them in menus. It doesn’t read the contents of your windows or what you type.
  • Screen Recording access (Pro, optional) is used only to make the small window thumbnails you see when you hover over an app. Thumbnails are kept in memory while TandemDock runs. They are never saved to disk and never sent anywhere.
  • Finder access (optional) is used only to ask whether the Trash is empty, so the Trash icon looks right.
  • Your settings, your trial start date and your license are stored on your Mac, in its preferences and Keychain.

TandemDock doesn’t include any analytics, advertising or crash-reporting service.

What leaves your Mac

License activation (Pro only). When you enter a license key, TandemDock sends the key and your Mac’s name (as set in System Settings › General › Sharing) to Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider, so the key can be activated and you can see which Macs use it. About once a day, TandemDock checks with Lemon Squeezy that the key is still valid. If you deactivate a Mac, it tells Lemon Squeezy to free that activation. Nothing else is sent. The free version never contacts the license server.

Update checks. TandemDock can check our website for new versions. That request includes the app’s version and your macOS version, like any web request includes your IP address. We don’t use it to identify you.

Purchases. Pro is sold by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record). They handle your payment details, email address and billing country under the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can help with your license; we never see your card number.

Email. If you contact us, for example with Send Feedback in the app, we receive what you write and your email address, plus the app and macOS versions that Send Feedback fills in. We use it only to reply.

Our website

pixelbluellc.com is hosted on GitHub Pages and downloads are served by GitHub. GitHub may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, under the GitHub privacy statement. Its typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser also contacts Google, under the Google privacy policy. The website doesn’t set cookies or use analytics.

Sharing and selling

We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it except with the providers named above, when the law requires it, or if PixelBlue LLC were to be sold (in which case this policy would still apply to the information we already have).

Your choices

  • You can turn off Screen Recording or Finder access in System Settings at any time. TandemDock keeps working without them.
  • To remove all local data, quit TandemDock, delete it from Applications, and remove the “com.pixelblue.tandemdock” items from Keychain Access.
  • To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email info@pixelbluellc.com. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we extend them to everyone.

Children

TandemDock isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your Mac, we’ll also mention it in the release notes.
